complete online source for all your pet’s needs
Pet owners certainly spend a lot of time with their dogs. They play with, groom, and feed their canine friends. A lot of them will also even sleep with their pups.

If you’re new to taking care of a dog, having your pet get enough sleep is essential for keeping them healthy and happy. Below are some facts worth knowing about a dog’s typical sleeping pattern and behaviours:

• Dogs will usually sleep for at least 13 hours daily. This would also vary according to the dog’s specific breed but in general, a dog is likely going to be asleep for almost half of his or her life.

• All dogs are inclined to circle their sleeping area before lying down to snooze. If the dog is feeling cold, he or she will curl up in a ball, to conserve body heat. And if they are feeling warm, they will tend to stretch out their body while lying down.

• When there is an increased or unusual amount of activity around them, dogs will instinctively and immediately wake up. If a dog is however deliberate woken up or heedlessly disturbed, the canine may react aggressively and even bite the person/s around him or her without warning. A dog that was woken up at an unusual time may also be a bit unwilling to settle down or sleep again immediately.

• Lastly, many dogs may prefer to lie against a wall or next to their owner's feet. Most dog experts say this is probably a way for them to receive an additional sense of security, safety, and acceptance.
