Projection Mapping Through Time

find out about 3d projection mapping
One of Media Interactive Agency’s services include 3D projection mapping. The origin of this technological wonder dates back to 1969 when Disneyland opened its Haunted Mansion ride. The ride made use of several optical illusions in order to give the customers the scare that they were expecting. Among these optical illusions are the Grim Grinning Ghosts which sang the ride’s theme song and other disembodied heads. Disneyland created this by filming head-shots using a 16 mm film and then projecting it onto sculpture of their faces.

Decades later, the movie Minority Report became popular. The film features an incredible interface which was created by John Underkoffler from Oblong Industries, Inc. Prior to working on the film, Underkoffler was a pioneer of certain early work in interactive projection mapping. His notable contributions include the introduction of Input/Output Bulb (I/O Bulb) which is actually a projector equipped with a camera that makes it possible for every surface to display and collect visual information. By 2005-2006, projection onto paintings and drapes were being explored. A few more years and technology has made several innovations that made actual reality blend with virtual reality. Today, brand experience agencies use 3D projection mapping to improve customer experience and advertising.
