Common Types Of Injuries Caused By Dangerous Machinery In Worksites

Blame it on the dozens of horror and suspense flicks but sometimes, when you enter a warehouse or a building where production or manufacturing processes happen, you feel a slight tingling sensation on your neck and you become apprehensive and even scared about going inside a place.

However, you can be forgiven for feeling nervous and even scared when you are in or near such work areas; after all, many accidents do happen in such places. And a lot of these accidents are often caused by the dangerous machinery used or present there.

Below are some of the most common types of injuries caused by certain dangerous equipment in certain work areas:

Eye injuries.
An employee (or any person) in the worksite can have his or her eye injured due to some items or particles being emitted at high speed or from damages and disintegration of the materials or moving parts of the machinery.

Cuts or lacerations. Having lacerations on a finger, hand and other parts of the arms is also a common injury caused by some dangerous equipment. Cuts are among the most common of all injuries and many will require little or no treatment. Deeper lacerations, however, may damage underlying structures such as nerves, tendons, muscles or even bones causing a break or fracture and in severe cases, even amputation.

Crush injuries.
Dangerous machines can trap and crush body parts which come into contact with them. The usual body parts that are trapped and crushed are the hands and fingers. This type of injury always calls for reconstructive surgery because of the serious lacerations, amputations or degloving (skin is stripped from the hands and fingers) incident the person accidentally received or went through.
