Dubai follows a dress code that is based on respect for the
culture and religion of the Arab nation. By following the dress code you will
make your visit or stay in the country more pleasant and you will avoid
offending any of the nationalities.
While you are out in public, everything from your shoulders
down to your knees should be covered. Do not wear tight clothing or see-through
outfit and always see to it that your cleavage is covered as much as possible.
The public places that the dress code applies to include malls, markets,
cinemas, super markets, public areas of hotels, on the street, on the road in
your car, etc.
Things You Should and Should Not Do
- You can wear anything you want while inside your home.
- Bikinis or swimsuits must be worn in round pools or at the beach. Topless bathing is prohibited and it is best that you don’t wear thong type bottoms. Never go to a shop or mall still wearing your swimwear, even when you put on shorts or a see through cover up. Make sure that you are fully redressed when you leave the pool or beach.
- Get fully clothed after working out at the gym so will not be seen at petrol station shops wearing crop tops and short shorts as this will cause offence also.
- Underwear should be covered always and should not be seen through fabric.
The primary wardrobes in Dubai are pashimas, Capri pants,
boleros, leggings, and cardigans.
