Some Fascinating Facts Worth Knowing About Television Ads

leading video production company in Dubai
Ads dominate nearly all TV channels in various parts of the world. This is especially true if you watch free TV or don’t have access cable or satellite channels. With billions of people glued to the boob tube every day, businesses will certainly have no problems getting their brands recognised when they air their commercials or ads on TV.

Although TV commercials come and go year in and year out, there are some facts worth knowing about them. Below are some of these:

1. The first ever “legal” TV commercial aired on July 1, 1941. It was shown during a Brooklyn Dodgers-Philadelphia Phillies baseball game on WNBT in New York. This black-and-white ad shows an image of the United States and a Bulova watch. The ad run just for nine seconds and included a simple voiceover: “America runs on Bulova time.”

2. Commercials aired during the Super Bowl are the most watched ads in the USA. They are the most expensive to pay for as well. TV commercials shown during the Super Bowl can cost $3 million or more for a 30 second spot.

3. Pre-recorded advertisements only became possible in 1956. This coincided with the invention of videotape recording.

4. Ice cubes in alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage advertisements are usually made of acrylic so that they won’t melt under hot photography lights or move around. The bubbles you see, on the other hand, are made by adding detergent. Water is added as well so that light will filter through better.

5. In TV ads for children, child actors are typically older than the target audience. For instance, a commercial for 7 to 8 year olds will show 11 or 12 year old models playing with a toy created for 7 to 8 year old kids. Advertisers and producers use older children as role models to provide an image of what younger children will want to be like.
