Air conditioners come in different types. What are the most popular types of air conditioners used in commercial and residential properties? Read them below:

Split or ductless air conditioner
– Split type ACs consists of two units: one indoor and one outdoor. The indoor one houses the evaporator and cooling fan while the outdoor unit houses the compressor, expansion valve, and condenser. This type of air conditioning system provides the added convenience of not having to make a specialized slot in the room wall and they do not take up too much space as well.

Window-type air conditioner - This type of AC is commonly used for single rooms. In a window air conditioner, a single box houses all the components or parts namely the condenser, evaporator, compressor, cooling coil, and expansion valve. This type blows out cooled air on one end (the one inside the room) and expels heat on the other (the external end or outdoor part). A window air conditioner unit is fitted and installed in a window sill or a slot in the room’s wall that is specially made for it.

Central air conditioning unit – Central air conditioning units make use of a large compressor and two separate packaged units. The condensing unit is placed outside the establishment or building and encompasses the condensing fan, compressor, and condenser coil. The internal evaporative unit, which is made up of the evaporator coil and expansion valve, is placed in the plenum of the building’s furnace. This unifies the ductwork of a building or home’s air conditioning and heating systems. Central air conditioning units are ideal for large buildings, hotels, movie theatres, factories, and other bigger spaces.

Portable air conditioner
- This type refers to a mobile air conditioning system which is placed on the floor inside a room. A portable air conditioner releases exhaust heat through the exterior wall through a hose vent.
