Crane is a very beneficial construction machine that is found in construction sites. It can be used in different purposes. Though it is mainly used in the construction industry, it can also be used during the manufacturing process of big or heavy equipment.

This machine is named “crane” since it resembles the well-known long-necked and long-legged bird that has similar name – Crane. As compared to other birds, cranes are larger. In fact, they are the tallest flying living birds worldwide.

Shaduf is among the earliest types of a crane. This machine was used more than 4000 years ago in Egypt in order to move water; but it is still used today in some rural areas in Egypt and India.
The Greeks invented the first human-made crane. It was mainly used in the construction for lifting heavy materials.

During the early 20th century, internal combustion engines were introduced. It replaced the steam engines in cranes. Apart from that, the steel became the main material of cranes.

A lot of world-known politicians today began their careers as crane operators. These include some of the United States politicians in the legislative sector of the government. The most famous was actually Anna Walentynowicz from Poland – she was a free trade union activist.
